“You have to go to this awesome cafe at Norwood!”

If one of your friends says this to you, chances are they’re talking about Argo on the Parade.

My parents discovered this popular cafe a little while ago – about the same time as everybody else. Ever since then, I have attempted to visit, but each time it has been at capacity with a huge waiting list.

So, with a Monday morning off, my bestie and I decided to call in for an early lunch. Alas, Argo was already full at 11am, but a young couple left their table just as our names were being written on the list. I was relieved to sit outside, as it was really loud inside the cafe!

We were given the menus, which had a HUGE selection – so big that I don’t know how the chefs and wait staff can even remember how to make all the options!

Some of the food options included smoothie bowls, focaccias, wraps, piadina, tossed salads, grain bowls, hot dogs, and lasagna. My gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian friends, you aren’t forgotten, with a huge selection available to suit your needs.

There is also a large beverage range, with smoothies, frappes, milkshakes, coffees and cocoas to choose from.

I settled on the vegetarian, gluten-free Namaste burger (sweet potato and falafel patty, avocado, organic hummus, tomato, beetroot, carrot, alfalfa sprouts and sweet chilli on a gluten-free bun)  and the Missango smoothie (frozen yoghurt, milk, fresh strawberries, mango and mint).

As I placed my order at the counter, I couldn’t help but notice the organised chaos going on – stacks of dishes and dirty blenders covered the counters. I don’t know how the staff work in these stressful conditions!

Our meals arrived quickly, despite customers coming and going in all directions. My burger was nice, but I thought the bun was slightly dry and it also could have used some more sauce (probably not sweet chilli, perhaps something with more oomph).

The smoothie, however, was delicious. It was nice and cold, and the hint of mint made it extremely refreshing. I just wish I’d had an even bigger glass!

Argo is now also open at Victoria Square in Adelaide’s CBD. So my question to you fine readers is… Have you been to this outlet?
